c. Soccer games

If you do the maths for a squad of say 16 playing 8 v 8, versus having 2 games of 4 v 4 going on, its obvious that players playing 4 v 4 will be more involved, get a greater number of touches on the ball and therefore develop their football skills more quickly.

Next time you are watching a training session where the coach is having 8 v 8 , 10 v 10 etc - take a look at how many players are not involved at any one time.

Is this good practice?

Now think about your own experience of 5 aside style soccer - intense - you bet it is!

Hence here at TSC UK we suggest that you build in Small Sided Games (SSGs) into your coaching sessions.
